  • My role as a painter is to paint various parts of the inside of a submarine to make sure that it doesn’t rust

  • Since I have started my apprentice in 2020 I have gained and developed aload of new skills and knowledge

  • I really enjoy my apprenticeship everyone I work with is so supportive and can lighten anyones day

  • My apprenticeship can be organised but someone communications between Sask (training academy) and the ddh

  • I receive a lot of help from my tradesman he’s always there when I need a hand

  • We get limited support when it comes to doin our apprenticeship such as communication down to Sask so that we struggle doin our write ups

  • It gives me better experience in the job

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yeh at the start of your apprenticeship you get to go to outward bound which is a week away with your trade getting to know them all and doing team building activities with them

  • Yes

  • Because it’s a job for life and there’s always someone to help you if your unsure on what to do


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Take care when interviewing and make sure you speak clearly and dress smartly
