My role as a steel worker is we have theory about welding principles on monday, on tuesday we are in the practical workshop for fabrication and welding and this includes currently i am making a log burner wednesday is full workshop day again thursday is virtual learning in the morning and theory in the afternoon and friday is half and half workshop and theory.
my timekeeping and organisation is a lot better than it was and my collaboration skills have improved i can also weld and use lots of different machines and pieces of equipment i can also use an oxy fuel cutting torch which is really good this is my skills for the workshop.
i really enjoy the programme that i am on for a well established company as we work for the ministry of defence which makes me very proud to do what im doing and the people that i work with are really nice and so are my tutors they help a lot
the organisation can be improved as with covid 19 we have had a fair few people being off sick such as the tutors and my peers however this cannot be helped sometimes but other than that its been really well organised and structured and i dont think it needs much improvement.
we receive a lot of support from our employers such as all personal protective equipment is provided to us as employees free of charge by our employer for us to safely work in the workshop or shop floor environment as this could cause quite a problem if we had to fund it ourselves
we receive a lot of support our training provider which is furness college when we are working towards our qualifications such as virtual support when working at home to verbal support when working in the work shop and when we are in the class rooms and this helps a lot
i feel like the qualification that we get through our training provider helps a lot to perform better in our role as we get a better understanding in the area that we are working in when we reach the end of our apprenticeship and become trades people when we are working in our job
currently as far as i am aware there are no extra curricular activities to involved in at our work and this would benefit us greatly when working because we would be able to work better with the team that we work in as we would be able to make better friends
Yes
i would recommend bae systems to all my friends as it is a very good job and apprenticeship and it makes me proud to know that i work for the ministry of defence and i help to build weapons that help to protect the country i live in so i would recommend this to others
i would advise that others applying to BAE Systems would be to gather relevant experience and qualifications to the role that you are applying for as this will help you when applying for any role and just be genuine and just be yourself as integrity is a key part to any role in the company
