As an apprentice, my day to day basis to to work with my team on understanding what happens within this section as well as its contribution towards the business. within these days I can be getting on with activities such as work to replicate jobs that happen within this section. I can also be getting on with live work that the business needs, this is done with a team member to ensure I am on the right track. However, due to covid-19 this is something I feel that has only happened recently and took time for my self and peers to be given this opportunity like this.
Yes, believe I have learnt new skills, such as how this business create and manufactures their products along with what kind of work and engineering is involves for this to be successful. I have also developed my theory skills in my college time improving my maths and mechanical/science engineering skills. However, due to Covid-19 I feel that this apprenticeship has not given key basic skills that would be usual for moving forward and feel updates need to be made to better mould around the "new way of working" or "hybrid working" as its now called.
I do enjoy this programme as I know the potential for what I can learn is impressive, I also know that is programme can me some great opportunities moving forward. However, I think in house college would be something to look at moving forward in the apprenticeship and also more training on specifics of the business instead of generic learning of engineering.
Yes
I would recommend this to a friend as I know how big of an opportunity this apprenticeship can be and what this can do for a person in terms of experiences and development, I do feel my year as been badly affected by Covid-19 which is no ones fault but I feel better planning, structure, specific training and time would give us back that lost experience we need/needed.
the advice I would give is as follows: - research the company know what they do - try to relax on interview day to insure you come across calm and collective - smile! it goes along way - come up with 2/3 really good questions to ask the business. -Always be open and honest, never ever be shy
