As a community officer I will be helping around the community and trying to build a safer community with the help of my peers. From building and improving community sites to interacting with people and helping them understand what we do at the big local.
I have been exposed to much more communication with strangers which has helped me with my confidence. I have also been taught much more about painting and handy work in general, additionally I have learnt more about gardening and how they help build a community.
So far it has been a great learning experience overall. I am learning a lot about the community. The programme has also helped me be more comfortable in a team and actually enjoy working and making sure I am proud of what I do.
The induction was a great introduction to what the equans does for the people and it was also a great way to ready myself and strive to achieve the goals we have been set. Every team member I have spoken to is very supportive and I am able to see them as mentors.
On my first day he made me feel very comfortable which made me enjoy working. Everyone has been very supportive and have made me feel welcome instantly which I am very grateful for.
I am taught everything I need to be taught and they are very supportive and make sure I am enjoying what I am doing without much pressure of mastering my skills first try.
I feel like I will be able to do much more tasks more perfectly and will also be able to do them independently. I know that this will help me not only perform better at work but also it will help me out in the world once my skills are developed well.
We have plans to have events in the park at the heart of the community where we will be able to spread our message and provide proof of why a well looked after community is a safe place for everyone.
Yes
I was a troubled child when I was younger due to my neighbourhood and working for a company like this shows that communities can be fixed and can become a much more safe place for young people. I take pride in what I do and I enjoy knowing that every little thing can help out someone.
To not stress too much about how you will be seen at first. Everyone is different so do not worry too much about your abilities. Iron sharpens iron and the company will make you feel like you are one of them very quickly and make you feel like you belong.
