My role at the minute is in the Resourcing Team where I look at the sub contractor recruitments coming in and out of the business for RAF Coningsby sand RAF Lossiemouth. I thoroughly enjoy this role as I get to send out CVs to hiring managers, be responsible for the tracker which keeps track of the recruitment, set up interviews, create paperwork for vacancies and extension contracts as well as take on project work which looks at the age demographics and recruitment.
I have learnt many skills so far while in my Apprenticeship. Some skills being confidence, communication, organisation, time management, productively and leadership. While in the Apprenticeship i've learnt how important it is to manage my time well as are balancing placement work with college work and trying to meet deadlines. And due to communicating with so many different people who you may not have met before definently helps with your communication skills as you are pushed out of your comfort zone which then makes situations like that less daunting in the future.
At this moment in time I am very much enjoying my Apprenticeship programme as I am in a Team who I get along with very well and I really enjoy what I do on a day to day basis. I like that my role is fast paced and that there is always plenty to do. However, I haven't always enjoyed my programme. There have been times where I have felt down due to my lack of understanding of the role I was in. BUT I had great support from my fellow colleagues who helped me to gain a better understanding of my role.
My programme is very well organised and structured. My skills coaches always know how to answer our questions and always answer them within a short period of time! Since the day we started we had a timetable of our lessons which helped us to learn time management and helped us to determine the days that we would be busy with out college work so we could let our placement teams aware.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. All BAE employees are made aware of who we can go to for different types of support such as work support, advice support and mental health support. BAE Systems have many mental health first aiders who are great to go to when we need a chat or are having a difficult time. Our line/placement manager are always very supportive and are always there if we need anything.
At BAE Systems we have skills coaches who go through college days with us and give us support outside of college days if we have any questions regarding presentations, assignment work, reflective accounts or project work. They always make it clear that we can message them for any type of support.
My learning which I have completed so far with my training provider has massively helped with my learning of the company i work for as well as skills such as interpersonal skills as all the apprentices come together and have to communicate to create mini presentations. These are done on college days and massively help with confidence while presenting and being professional which is something that we all need for our roles with our company.
I currently am not involved with any extra curricular activities within the company however I know that on base at RAF Coningsby there is a gym that we can sign up to and there are also sports team which we can get involved with. However this is something that I haven't been involved with yet.

This compony has many perks, it has a very competitive apprentice wage, you have a pension, shares scheme and overall a very friendly environment to work with. Its also great at the minute as employees can work from home as well as work on site. I personally do both which I have found has been extremely helpful with my mental health as well as helping me gain a better understanding of my job role. Its been great to also interact with others face to face.
This is a great company to work for with many benefits to it! I would recommend you fully read into what the company does that this will massively help with your understanding of your job role and once you're in the company just ask as many questions as you can. no question is a silly question and there will always be someone who can answer them. And if you get the opportunity to do something, take it!
