GOing into work day to day involves taking aprt in the Level 3 BTEC qualification in engineering. You will come to work by bus to HMS Sultan every day, and complete your 7 units of work from September to June. Also, every other week, you wuill take part in lessons to gain your Level 1 and Level 2 in ILM. In years two and three you work at your depot near your home, performing day to day opeations that network rail conduct.
Yes I have developed new leadership skills, as well as new work ethid skills. I have also made steps with my theoretical knowldege.
It is a bit of a shame living such a long way from home (newcastle to southampton), but that won't be the same for everyone. Apart from that I enjoy the programme.
Greatly, Network Rail sees us as the new face of the railway network.
All 3 years have been well organised and are easily underestood and followed.
Day to day the lessons aer dellivered by qualified instructors, and are available to help in anyway they can.
NWR has helped me with issues that I have had, and motivated me to work on.
Pay is greater than normal apprenticeship wage but is still seen as quite small with living so far away. It helps having food, accomodation and transport paid for.
A job is pretty much guaranteed at the end.
Yes
Great oppurtunity for someone who can't decide what they want to do or have an interest in the topic.
Save prior to coming down to help with spending. Work hard and meet all deadlines, and work to the finishing date of first year, after theat the apprenticeship gets a lot better, in the final two years.
