I currently work in a team that maintains a network utilized by colleagues and customers from across our Media & Broadcast division. We are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of switches, routing and firewalls.
I have developed my basic networking skills, including completing a Cisco CCNA course and plan to take an exam on this in the near future to become officially accredited.
The programme is extremely enjoyable with amazing opportunities to volunteer and get well involved in the Apprentice community. BT treats every apprentice in exactly the same way as any other colleague and provides amazing opportunities to get involved across all of our business units.
It is well structured, with an agile working pattern and on-the-job training with unlimited support wherever it may be required.
There is a great level of support, including buddys, understanding line managers, an Apprenticeship team and an amazing Apprentice community where you can meet and connect with Apprentices who are at different stages in their career journey.
I recieve a good amount of support from my course leader and course tutors. These often change on each unit but generally, all are happy to help when dropping them an email.
I have been able to lift knowledge directly from my university degree into my workplace but it has also provided fundamental networking knowledge that I have been able to build upon through the CCNA qualifications
Yes, there is a huge social community of apprentices. We often meet each week in a casual study environment so we can support each other in our university assignments. We also can get involved in different networks to volunteer and share the amazing benefits of apprenticeships
Yes
It is a great place to start your career with so much support and can absolutely be a place where you can build your lifetime career
Go for it and be passionate and enthusiastic about working here and learning new skills/professions
