I am a receptionist and on a day to day basis my role as a receptionist involves checking in guests, dealing with complaints and queries, getting guests anything they need such as pillows, cups, water or anything else they may require, helping and supervising the house keeping team. I also sometimes help clean and strip rooms.
During my apprenticeship I learned new skills including working as a team, my apprenticeship gave me the chance to learn the ins and outs of working as a team and how important teamwork is in order for success. I developed existing skills such as rules on GDPR and guest privacy.
I really enjoyed my apprenticeship as I was given the chance to do something for myself and work on my own goals which benefit my career. The apprenticeship gave me a sense of independence and really allowed me to work on my own career. I feel more confident and mature now I have completed my apprenticeship.
My apprenticeship is very well organised and structured, the structure of my apprenticeship makes it easy to follow and easy to use. The organisational skills are immensely important and lifetime works hard to deliver an exceptional service which they do without hesitation. I do however wish more of the knowledge questions where vocal based rather than written.
I receive an amazing amount of support from my employer, nothing is ever too much or a hassle. My employer works round the clock to make sure that everything is in working order and ready for the days work. I can’t fault my employer at all and wish there were more employers like this.
I receive an immense amount of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. Nothing is ever too much hassle and they are constantly working to make me the best version of myself which I am forever grateful for. My training provider works very well for me and I am lucky to have such an amazing one.
My qualification has helped me in so many ways to perform better in my role as a receptionist. It has helped build my confidence when working with people and I can now confidently speak to guests without hesitation. It has also helped me branch out and build relationships with my colleagues and surrounding teams.
Sadly as of yet there is not many extra curricular activities to get involved in at my work, however I hope this can be changed in the future especially since extra curricular activities are great at improving mental health and physical health. It also a nice way to build bridges.
Yes
I would recommend whitbread to a friend as I believe whitbread have countlessly shown time and time again how much they care about their employees. Whether that’s in ways of a pay increase or just a simple thank you. Whitbread always find away to go the extra mile and make you feel special.
Some tips and advice I would give to others applying to this company would be that at times it can become difficult especially when dealing with guest complaints however everything works out for the best and the company is with you every step of the way to help you out.
