I have just finished my 13 weeks bootcamp training as part of my apprenticeship and will now take on the role of a Database Administrator (DBA) which is a technical support role that I will enjoy. I will be working on a particular account and my day to day job would be handiling and maintaining databases for the account I will be on - also consists of maintaining many applications, dealing with end user accounts and mostly supporting our customers - dealing with incidents.
I had very little programming experience when I first begun the apprenticeship but these have developed massively thanks to our fantastic tutors and I have learnt languages such as Java, SQL, PL/SQL and I have also completed a Data Modelling and Project Management course which has enhanced my skills alot. Without doubt I will be defininitley using my new skills I have learnt throughout my career and I am hopeful I will continue to develop my skills with Capgemini!
Words cannot explain how much I have enjoyed my programme, I have loved every single minute of it and I am extremely happy to get such an excellent career opportunity. The training has been very enjoyable and you are guaranteed to learn new skills and the tutors are so easy going and supportive throughout our career journey. The best thing is you are treated as an employee from day one and not just an 'apprentice', Capgemini value you as their employee and support you continuously throughout the programme.
I feel very valued by Capgemini and as I mentioned above we are treated as an employee from day one. Capgemini can see our potential and skills and place us in the business where we will firstly enjoy our job and secondly fit in best. You are 100% supported and Capgemini are there for us throughout our career journey ensuring we are developing in our roles and moving forward in the career ladder. You will here many times from numerous employees at Capgemini that 'apprentices are the future of Capgemini'.
Our programme is very well organsied and structured and we were told from day one what we will be doing throughout the course and any changes that occured we were always made aware of.
All apprentices have an accessor from QA who are our training provider - they provide us feedback and support and answer any questions we have or any worries.
Capgemini are very supportive and we have many people to contact if we require support for a particular reason. We are all assigned a local SPOC who is our single point of contact - they are a Senior Manager offering us support during our time as an apprentice. We also have an apprenticeship programme manager who is an employee of Capgemini and we can get in contact with them any time for any support or problems we are having.
The pay for our apprenticeship is a really good pay and there are many opportunties to raise your salary and have promotions through the years.
Capgemini do arrange many activities outside of work to ensure we are building out network and representing our company.

This is an excellent opportunity to boost your skills and set yourself up for life with a secure career that provides so much . The thing that attracted me was the 5 year programme allowing you to also study for a sponsored degree so you pay nothing which is better than univeristy and your debt free! We receive excellent pay, gain excellent skills and Capgemini treat their employees the best. There are so many opportunities to go up the career ladder within capgemini, promotions, experience and never ending skills!
Capgemini are looking for individuals who have a real passion and interest for IT/Programming/Computing. Make sure you show the real you and demonstrate your skills and most importantly do not lie about skills you do not have! An excellent tip would be make sure you read up on some of the languages we study i.e SQL, Java, PL/SQL which will help you feel alot more comfortable throughout training. Capgemini want people who are dedicated to their career and want to develop their skills - This is the best opportunity you could have so the biggest tip is be mature and prove you can be a successful Capgemini employee!
