I answer a number of emails regarding different types of issues employees are facing. I look to resolve the issues by using my knowledge of different IT systems. Employees throughout the business can contact my team, regardless of the function they are in. I also get involved in projects which are lead by my senior colleagues.
I have learnt a number of new skills, for example project management and knowing what to look out for when managing my own project. I have also developed my presentation skills, organisational skills and the ways in which I communicate (both written and verbal) to both colleagues and external customers. I have also developed my confidence.
I enjoyed the apprenticeship programme very much. I was able to meet lots of new people and gain new experiences at such a young age which people who go to university would not be able to experience. I have made new friends from the programme so could communicate with them regarding the experiences we were both facing.
The programme was nicely structured as we were able to rotate to different teams and this gave us lots of new experiences and the chance to network with a variety of people. The fact the programme was rotational was very appealing to me and was one of the main reasons I chose the apprenticeship
KPMG gives lots of support. There is always someone you can reach out to if you would like to talk about something. The teams are very understanding of the fact you have to study whilst working so are accommodating in the sense they will ensure you have the time and resources that you need available.
BPP set up calls every 6 weeks where we can talk to our coach and ask any questions we have. These sessions helped us to improve our coursework and our managers would also sometimes get involved. They provide lots of useful and detailed feedback which helps us a lot in ensuring we can get the best grade possible.
I have got a much better understanding of how a business runs and I have applied this to how KPMG runs and the different teams and functions involved in running a successful business. I have also applied the skills I have learnt on the programme to the work that I complete everyday, for example communication and project management skills.
There are a number of societies available which you can join, for example a parenting network and religious societies. I have not joined any myself but will look at joining some in the future. There are frequent networking events in the offices where you can meet new people and understand more about the teams they work in.
Yes
KPMG is an excellent place to work and is very respected in the industry. Employees have lots of benefits- You get a day off on your birthday, an extra day off around Christmas time and the salary is very competitive. Everyone is very supportive and friendly so it is a nice place to work.
Make sure you do your research before applying so you know exactly what programme you want to join and why. You need to be interested in the company and the work that it does, and not just wanting to do the apprenticeship for the qualification. It is very competitive so keep applying if you are not successful the first time.
