My procurement role involves market research, creating ITTs, evaluating ITTs, actioning requisitions and creating RFQs and PO’s. I have the opportunity to talk to suppliers regularly and also visit suppliers across the country.
My organisational skills have improved massively, along with my IT skills. I have learnt how to use our SAP System along with my basic excel and presentation skills coming on massively. My confidence has also increased when talking to internal and external suppliers.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme as I have had the opportunity to move placements a few times so feel I have a well rounded experience across the business. However, it is a shame that due to COVID the number of placements were reduced.
My programme is well structured with placement rotation every 4 to 6 months in normal circumstances.
A large amount of support is received from my employer.
Working towards my CIPS qualification has helped my massively in the role as it has helped me understand procurement as a whole instead of just my placements.
We have different stretch projects we can get involved in, such as being a STEM ambassador or attending local schools to deliver lessons.
