  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day-to-day role involves working with several small teams on a portfolio of clients in various industries to audit their financial statements. Responsibilities include producing quality work, meeting client deadlines and communicating professionally with our clients.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed significantly since joining S&W out of sixth form. Have improved at communicating with clients, junior staff and directors/partners, managing my own time, developing others, technical competence in terms of accounting, finance and business knowledge, delegating, reviewing work and Excel skills (amongst others).

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • School leaver programme very enjoyable at S&W. Good amount of study support given (including both time and tutor support) for ACA exams, with a significant amount of on the job experience and learning, and studying with many people at the same level and age as you - good social scene!

    10/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Programme is well organised and structured - there are many people who have been through the same exams and experiences so a lot of support/training provided. Mentors are provided and a good amount of study time/tutor support. On the job training also provided.

    10/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A significant amount of support from line managers and those you work with on a day to-to-day basis - everyone has trained up and started out in the same way before so are committed to developing others. Slightly less support from HR functions but less interaction, so matters little.

    8/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Both Kaplan and FI (used by S&W) are good at providing support & helping with questions. Exams are relevant to the job and with the right amount of hard-work, can be got through. Peers would also be going through the same exams, so are not line.

    10/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • On the job training is more key to helping to perform better in role but the qualification does provide a significant amount of technical knowledge which helps set you up for life in accounting, finance and business.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • S&W have a very good culture for social activities and professional networking events, including sports teams, team socials and department socials. The audit department is quite young in nature and therefore, there are many people of a similar age/level to interact with. The best part is the people.

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Evelyn Partners to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The people you work with are supportive, knowledgeable and good to interact with on a social basis. A significant amount of on the job training is provided and the client base is interesting and varied - which means exposure to more areas and better for development.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Evelyn Partners?
  • Be enthusiastic and willing to learn / take responsibility and make sure you are organised. You're not expected to know everything as an apprentice but some company research on TS&W is helpful.
