An overview of my role includes been in 4 placements around the business throughout my 2 years as a advanced business apprentice. I will shadow my line manager and be given independent roles by them to take on work indecently and grow my skills and knowledge in that specific area
Yes every day is a new learning experience. I am constantly been involved in new tasks and different calls developing communication, independence time management and IT skills. I have had the chance to switch functions and this allowed me to overview the whole process from dealing with both suppliers and customers.
I have really enjoyed my experience so far and the roles I have had on the apprenticeship. It was difficult to start due to COVID-19 measures. This meant I had to start the role from working at home and not been able to meet any of my team or experience working on site. However the resources that BAE provided made sure this didn't affect us in any negative way and since measures have been relaxed I have really enjoyed coming on-site.
Very well organised. I have a skills coach who looks after me from the apprenticeship side as well as my line manager who I work with on a daily basis. I get to experience different roles around the business which I like because when leaving the apprenticeship you have an idea of which department you want to go into.
A lot of support. When entering a new placement I receive the correct training which is important because this teaches me key information that I need. My line manager is always there for help as well as other team members which is very valuable for an apprentice starting of new in a company.
We have many different areas to receive help such as Success Factors where training courses are available and currently in my time at BAE, I have completed many of these. Lots of packs are available to look through and meetings/calls are there to update us on information regarding qualifications.
It definitely helps because I can reflect on this when doing work in my actual role. The information I am learning through my training provider is all necessary and links into my placement work. They have done this in order to prepare us for leaving the apprenticeship and help us understand what the company requires.
Yes there are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in. For example the apprenticeship takes us on an outward bounds which is great fun but also a valuable learning experience because it teaches us valuable scenarios and behaviours to take into the work environment. There are different extra-curricular activities depending your interests so for example there is a football team.
Yes
The reason I would recommend BAE to a friend is because the opportunities and benefits provided by the company. Not only is the company enjoyable to work for but the work environment and people are great to work with. If you join BAE you will have to work hard and the benefits reward this.
I would advise those who are applying to BAE system to do their research on the company and find out as much information as possible However if I was to do this project again in the future I would invite others to speak on my call creating their own slide and give a talk about their own experience from a different function as the different job roles the company offers. I would come across as confident and as someone who wants a long career with BAE.
