My role involves ensuring all activities and tasks are completed by me and my team are done effectively, whilst running the store efficiently and safely. I replenish the store whilst dealing with any issues and ensure the service is running productively with the Home Delivery and In-store service to satisfy our customers.
I've learnt how to use all, if not most of the technological functions such as SOI, HD Tracker and any other functions I may need to use. I have also learnt how to deal with issues personally such as dealing with an under performer and praise the team effectively.
I have enjoyed the programme in different parts such as learning the new things I don't know about which could help me in the future. However, as I have already done a similar course before which was a level 3 as well. I felt like I was just repeating it all again which felt like I was wasting my time. But for anyone who hasn't done anything in retail or business, this course would really be helpful for them.
The programme is really organised as it has a well set out plan of what happens next so the learner knows what is expected of them next. However, this is only effective if they fully complete their work and don't fall behind, otherwise the plan set out will start to fall apart or they find themselves having to catch up quickly.
Especially with my manager now, she has been really supported and invested in my development, ensuring I know everything I need to, helping me in any way they can. This has helped me learn new skills and roles as they would show me straight away and explain through it thoroughly.
I receive alot of support, as they are there to help me whenever I need any support, especially as I'm starting my project and synopsis, I have more questions to ask to ensure I am doing it right. The meetings we have always have enough time to also go through anything I may need support with.
I do feel this qualification has helped me perform better in my role, especially with appraisals, under performers and any other people development aspects. I have learnt on how to approach these factors more effectively to, for example, not offend anyone when giving feedback, which is why you use the sandwich rule where you put 2 positives before and after a negative.
Not anything I can think of The only extra work you can do would be the talking shop role, where you deal with any personal issues and raise new ideas with the manager or AM from the staff. This role could be helpful in developing my skulls with dealing with personal issues with my team.
Yes
Because it's a very social and fun place to work, the workforce has a very diverse culture so you're learning about different people everyday, learning about different cultures. This helps make the job more enjoyable and helps motivate the team productively which is a benefit for the store and business
Always ask questions, no matter how stupid they may seem, it helps you learn and develop yourself further. This will increase your knowledge and allow you to undertake a higher role or more responsibilities more effectively as you will have the knowledge and are keen to learn. The skills you learn can be used everywhere so don't think it can only be used at Iceland.
