My role at amazon is a flow team lead, this role requires me to set up a plan for outbound employees to ensure that all items get picked, packed and shipped on time and in a safe manor. i also have to deal with staff problems and barriers, and think of new ideas to improve the process.
Yes i have learnt many new skills including leading and managing people, time management, risk forcasting and mitigation, i have also developed as a team leader, giving me the confidence to speak to employees and ask them to do tasks when in the past i may of been shy to do so
the first few months i did not enjoy the programe as i did not have my own job position, once i gained my own position i started to feel like i was contributing to the company as well as developing my own skills on a daily basis, overall i do enjoy the job
my program is well structured, amazon allow me time to dedicate myself to the study side of the apprenticeship as well as providing me with opportunities to learn extra information to help me with my university modules. the university are also understanding of my work commitments and dont expect too much from me at once.
i receive support on a daily basis from my line manager, they make sure i have the resources required to complete my day to day job and also offer me opportunities to shadow other staff members which helps me develop my knowledge of other job roles inside of amazon which i wouldnt normally encounter
i receive sufficient support, i do sometimes end up having to dedicate my days off work to complete univeristy work but i am knew on the apprenticeship and i think with each module my time management will become better, as long as i give me manager a heads up of when i need time off they are usually fine with it
i feel the information i learn at Manchester met university helps me in my day to day job at amazon as it gives me the knowledge of how and why things happen, i think the more i learn at uni the more confident i become at work
yes at work we have a football team who play 5 aside games each week, we also hold community programs like litter picking which i can get involved in. work also give me the chance to come up with ideas for extra curricular activities which will benefit the staff of local community
Yes
I would recommend amazon to a friend as they provide endless oportunities to develop your skills and pursue a career tailored to your interests, they have a good benefits package, training program and are flexible to allow you to work all over the world, the sense of community at work is also great.
The tips i would give other applying for a role at amazon would be to enter the job with an open mind, dedicate yourself to exploring the job role and to not be afraid to ask for help when needed, the motto at work is that everyday is day one and we all need help sometimes
