project control role. Analysing spend vs budget doing weekly and monthly comparisons. Generate reports each month summarising budget vs spend. Liaise with contract team when amending budget.
I have gained a PMQ qualification (project management qualification) in my first year. I have also done a 2 day fundamental PM course summarising the main fundamentals of PM which was very insightful. Picked up a variety of skills like communication, stakeholder management, leadership, inclusivity, etc.
I enjoy my work and programme a lot as everyone is very supportive and encouraging. The main thing i really appreciate and admire is no one demands tasks to be completed in an aggressive manner. It is always requested in a considerate manner.
I go to university once a week and work the other four days. The programme is very structured and organised. There are two three people who deal with this and are set in place as a meant to assist with any queries you may have or support you may require
Overall, everyone is very supportive. All the way from HR to my manager. The company has provided me with a free chair to ensure i am working in an optimal environment from home which i appreciate a lot.
There are a lot of resources available provided by the college online which are very helpful. Also, i have the opportunity to email my tutors personally and request feedback which also helps
I utilise knowledge learnt in my role on a moderate basis. However, this is expected as i am still early in my journey in my 2nd year. I expect this to increase as i advance.
There are some opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. However, not a lot.
Yes
Overwhelming support. Good future prospects. Very kind, considerate and generous environment. Respectful and encouraging. And of course great salary.
Always link to experience and prove the skills you have or reflect with real life situations you have experienced. The more experience portrayed the better. Ask questions at the end showing enthusiasm. And do some research on the company. Maybe recent statistics/projects/finances/goals/etc.
