On a day to day basis, being an apprentice travel advisor you would be expected to log into all relevant systems that are used on a daily basis, check any emails, updates etc. You would always log into your online portal where you can log off the job learning, easily access any apprentice work that needs doing and keep an eye on your progress. I find this very helpful as it is easily accessible and an easy system to use to track progression.
I have learnt many more people skills, I have learnt how to deal with difficult situations and customers, I have become a lot more driven having deadlines and have found this apprenticeship an easy way to enjoy working as well as learning at the same time. I believe I have improved on my communication skills during my apprenticeship.
I enjoy learning about my job via assignments and quiz's but then also getting the chance to work as a travel advisor and learn the job role itself is very enjoyable for me as it is making me feel like i am progressing a lot faster and can take on more responsibilities as i am progressing.
I feel as though the different 'segments' can be mixed up to match the main subject you are working on so segments from later in the apprenticeship can be brought forward. The overall structure to the apprenticeship fits perfectly as it works alongside your progress in store to an extent, you can be learning about different destinations when you first start it and it will really help you progress in regard to selling customers holiday destinations you may not be familiar with.
I receive a lot of support from management, I get 1 day a week off shop floor to complete my work as I have monthly targets to hit. They help me progress and push me to do tasks I may worry about as it is the best way to progress.
My apprentice coach is amazing, I have a call once a month and they go through the exact requirements from me and my apprenticeship work. They go through everything thoroughly and don't make me feel as though asking questions is a burden towards them. I feel as though they will always listen and help to their best ability.
I feel as though in my apprenticeship i learn about travel and tourism all over the world, even to countries we may not travel to with TUI. This makes me more knowledgeable in regard to different destinations and questions customers may have. I also feel as though I find things out in much more depth such as requirements, legal and compliance features and more due to the information we are provided with during our apprenticeships.
There are a lot of extra curricular activities to join in with, due to covid everything is done via Teams but I have had the chance to attend award cveremony's, educational calls, training calls, I have been given a mentor who is someone else within the business who is doing a degree apprenticeship who is willing to help me along the way and many more.
Yes
I feel as though the company is very supportive, acknowledging and understanding. Throughout Covid the support was there for anyone who needed any help, once retuning back to work there was always someone to help, there are teams groups with other apprentice's in your region who you can ask questions to, speak to and get to know which is a lovely.
Make sure that you are prepared for the work load and always have a positive attitude towards to work and the job. Make sure to equally split the job workload and the apprenticeship work load to make sure you are working simultaneously towards the final qualification you will be getting.
