  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The overall experience of my apprenticeship is to take in every situation and gain skills and knowledge on each system we used such as Hybris, ultrapos or C4C. I also have to show a hunger to achieve new skills and knowledge such as doing the banking of each morning or shadowing colleagues day in day out.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy that no day in TUI is the same day to day as there are always new eventualities to try and solve with customers or system changes etc. I also enjoy the excitement that customers have that come in to the store when booking their dream holiday.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction of our programme is very well laid out for its apprentices such as myself when completion dates are in place and certain employees also have an involvement in your apprenticeship such as learning buddies or apprenticeship coaches that can guide your learning to outline exactly what to do to help achieve the pass make at the end of the apprenticeship.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Employers are told to set us as apprentices set study days to get the tasks up to date to help achieve our apprenticeship and also allocated study days and calls allocated by regional management. Employers and managers are also responsible for giving us off the job hours to log towards our apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Apprentices have the option to seek feedback from our apprentice coaches where to improve on certain tasks and also get re-assigned tasks to complete if the mark isn't quite up to the pass mark grade. We also have resources available to us to revise and gain knowledge on different tasks if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Compliance is the most important thing to learn in my opinion to ensure you are doing your job within the TUI protocol for whatever activity and that we as a company and me as an individual are kept safe and compliant for example selling foreign exchange correctly to the public.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There aren't many extra-curricular activities to get involved in when working with TUI the best grab i suppose would be the TUI experiences where TUI would send its employees to new destinations or hotels to experience the local culture and be able to sell the product to customers more efficiently having been there myself.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Simply the friendly spirit in each TUI store among the staff and also the customer base is extremely positive each day as the excitement of their holiday is making them so happy and also to see people face and mood light up as they have just booked their dream holiday is worth it so much.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • to ensure that off the job hours are always taken in to consideration when working day to day at TUI UK & IRELAND such as shadowing colleagues, gaining new technical skills or expanding knowledge by guided learning sessions with colleagues or apprentice coaches.
