My day to day role as an Network Rail apprentices varries from being out on the tracks to copmplete pracitle task and gain expernice. It could also be a day in the office catching up on paper work and making sure the correct legal documents are completed. With all of this i have to manage time to make spacce for courseworks and reports in order to complte my apprenticshihp.
All the skills i have learnt throughout my apprenticship have been new to me. I have developed my skill in time mangement which is a key thing to complete this apprenticship
I like comming in everyday knowing the work will be difrent from the previous day. I like working with the teams and helping out in both practical and office tasks.
My manager sits down with me every 12 weeks for an hour to see what i have been doing. This helps me arrange diffrent placments with diffrent teams within Network Rail. The manaager is 100% commited to helping me achive what i want to.
The programme is set out from year one where and induction to what will happen over the 3 years is expalined. It is simple and well organised.
Training provides are on call for us 24 hours a day. If i was to come accross a problem or question with any work i would know who to contact for instant help.
The employer is always keen on helping devlop my skill. My manger is always signing me up to new a diffrent things which are being introdueced to the railway.
In the first year all expense are paid for. the secon and third are a bit more diffcult however, there are pleanty of opertunities to work overtime and night shifts to gain that extra bit of money and also devlop new skills.
There are pleanty of charity events set up through out the year which any member can take part in. Every depot has ther own way of celbrating a 'job well done'.
