My first year involves me moving out and being independent. I attend resource group everyday and complete a number of modules. I also spend a lot of time in the workshop completing tasks. In year 2 it will consist of me doing 6 month placements and in year 3. I will also be going on any OAGs that I am able to go on and am asked to go on.
I have developed a huge amount in my interpersonal skills while also gaining a number of new skills. I have become a lot more skilful with my hands such as using the correct tools for the right job. I have also explored more in the names of tools and I know how to identify them and use the correct. I have also expanded my knowledge in health and safety in the hangar.
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship. It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember and to say that I am doing my dream job is a dream in itself. I enjoy getting hands on and learning and gaining more knowledge on aircrafts and what goes on behind hangar doors to fix and repair them.
It is a structured in a very smart way, all time allocated and we follow a plan each day, we are aware when our exams are. We also have time to reset our exams if needed to, while also knowing each day what the plan is. We also get told how long a module will last and when we are moving onto the next one. So I am very impressed on how organised it all is, having this organisation helps me to be prepared and organised myself
I receive a lot of support throughout my course, we have learning support managers to ensure we are hitting our targets. We also have advanced and experienced teachers to support and help us during our lessons to ensure we are excelling in everything we do. Our teachers are always guiding us with our work, ensuring we understand to the full amount.

My qualification will provide me with an A licence which I will then be able to build into a B1 or B2 licence later in the future. It will help me gain large amounts of knowledge on each aircraft, mechanical tools and information while understanding airworthiness. It will help me to understand engineering aspects or an aircraft while giving me the confidence to carry out my own tasks on my own.
Yes, the Duke of Edinburgh and Flying Start. Flying Start is a charity that British Airways works closely with, I have been involved with them when I was apart of the Student Ambassador team and they do a lot, they hold numerous events and involve students and aspiring students. They also hold a 5-a-side football match every Thursday for us all.

British Airways is a great company to work for, they get everybody involved while helping people achieve their dreams. British Airways give people a chance in proving their abilities to the company. They are very supportive and all do their staff and extremely experienced which means we will learn for the best people. British Airways have so many opportunities available for everyone, they offer work experience, apprenticeships, and job roles for many positions.
I would advice people to have the correct qualifications for what job role they are applying for, always read the job description. Make sure that you have experience in what your applying for as British Airways is a big company. Furthermore, to ensure that they have a general interest in the job role that they are applying for because they need to know basic knowledge and be able to love their job each day. To be enthusiastic about their work. Have a positive mindset and be 100% honest in everything they do and say.
