  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • What I do on a day-to-day basis depends on what project and sub-team I'm currently assigned to, but a few examples include attending catch-up meetings, helping new joiners, coding, completing training, creating functional/technical documents/presentations, replying to emails, team-building activities, and so on. Overall, responsibilities, daily interactions, and tasks are very varied.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely picked up a variety of new skills and developed my existing skills. Regarding technical skills, it is rewarding to develop these through a combination of both work projects and university assignments, and there are also various training and upskilling opportunities available on a regular basis. Soft skills such as problem-solving, building rapport, and communication skills are also developed on the job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as it is rewarding to develop skills and knowledge from learning theory and then putting it to practice, to work on interesting and relevant projects, and to meet and work with people from a range of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. The job definitely meets my expectations.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction programme was well-structured, helpful, and relevant to the first few months of working at Accenture. University and work complement each other well, and there is support available for when there are issues with either department. A potential downside is that having regular check-in meetings very much depends on your mentors having enough time, as some mentors may have many mentees.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a lot of support available from the employer, such a study leave, training days, and catch-up meetings. It is easy to get a response from the HR team, line manager, or Apprenticeship Lead, and asking for help, or asking questions in general, is very much encouraged in the workplace.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • It is easy to contact module leaders, tutors, or advisors from the university, and generally, most will reply quickly, although this depends on how busy the person is. The university is considerate of the fact that we also have a full-time job, and we have access to all the usual university resources.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification definitely helps me perform better at my role, as it both complements and supplements my on the job learning. It is a rewarding experience to be able to apply theory to a problem, or more generally, a project, or likewise, gain a better understanding of a concept after having picked it up at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work, from volunteering, to clubs and societies, to social events. The extra-curriculars have continued throughout the pandemic, and through in-person events, you may even visit another office or work location. In addition, you can get involved in the usual events available at the university, within the limits of your schedule.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Accenture to a friend as it is a rewarding place to work at, due to the variety of opportunities available and the range of people who work there. Every week is different; there is always something new to get involved in, and you are very much supported in your development.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • I would advise others applying to the degree apprenticeship programme to bring an open mind and be prepared to think both analytically and outside the box. It is okay if you do not have much technical knowledge, as long as you are prepared to learn and to put in the effort.
