My daily tasks include servicing bookings this includes taking the customer brief and finding them the holiday of their dreams. Adding on all relevant products i.e insurance, airport hotels, excursions and of course foreign exchange. Checking the windows are inline with trading standards, finding new window deals and entering this onto our digital board. Checking confirmations and all admin, dealing with holiday changes, and testing entry questions. This is just part of my day to day work.
I have learnt many new skills, i have never worked in sales before or been target based. Lots of new systems on the computer and a lot more admin work than I had realised. Understanding foreign exchange and insurance. I feel that my confidence and people skills are growing daily.
I am really enjoying my modern apprentice programme and i feel i have learnt much with the different modules involved, especially the destination module. I really enjoy the fact that it is on the job learning so I am working at the front of the shop most of the time and have a few separate days out the back for study time.
I feel that my programme is very well organised and structured as we have our study days - one day every other week. We also then have our meetings which tend to be every 8-10 weeks with our apprentice coach. And roughly every 2 months we have a meeting with all of the apprentices over the Cardiff region.
My manger is one of the best employers out there! She always makes sure I have enough study time and always asks how my apprentice is going. We always have a catch up every week to see how it is going and if she can help with anything. I believe I am her favourite apprentice ever!! (she hasn't had one in over 20 years haha)
Id say my trainer provider is [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] as she sets me the work but one of my colleagues [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] always helps me if I am in need. They are both smashing when it comes to me needing some assistance. I always have full support! [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is also really good because i can just email her or teams her and i near enough get a response straight away!
By joining this job I didn't have really know much about the different destinations and everything involved with the job. So I feel like being an apprentice and getting to learn about everything situated in the job is amazing because by the end of it, hopefully I will be fully qualified and know all the ins and outs.
As we live in Aberystwyth and the closest branch for us is Haverfordwest, which is still just under 2 hours, we would have to travel a great distance to be involved. I believe all of the other shops tend to be quite close to one and other but as we are further away we don't tend to do many social activities. If there is a meeting down in Cardiff for example we will always be there it is just harder. Again, with Royal Caribbean as another example, when they do their launching parties wed always have to travel a large distance to be involved.
Yes
We are a caring and loving company and would do anything to help our customers in need and all of their questions answered. We are here to provide and deliver great customer service and to get our customers excited for their time away in a sunny or even cold destination.
Personally, for this job role you need to have some type of passion towards travelling or even tourism. You need to be lively and be confident to get your views over to the customer for them to have a good time. I wasn't sure on what to expect from this job but becoming an apprentice has helped as I am learning the ins and outs of holidays and who doesn't like a holiday?!
