  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, this role has massively allowed me to develop and expand on existing small, as I work in a small business I am given exposure to every part of the business, and given frequent opportunities to get involved in different departments. It has allowed me to broaden my knowledge on eCommerce, PO management, client relationships and listing optimisation.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy going to uni. We have a nice cohort and majority of lecturers have been supportive and helpful. The student support has been particularly helpful and everything has been handled professionally and with support. Our other commitments are recognised but the work is still of course very challenging!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a clear structure and we are given all of our university days around a year in advance which is helpful for planning academic learning around my education. Deadlines have been moved around somewhat and lecturers sometimes reuse old learning rooms with pervious dates on there which has caused confusion among the cohort.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Generally my employer is supportive but not every colleague is fully understanding of the commitments involved with a degree apprenticeship. It is difficult to plan and schedule off the job learning days around my main role as the industry we work in is turbulent and workload is often unpredictable which can be frustrating.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive medium to high support from the university. We definitely saw more help in first year but this may be due to it being our first year in higher education or the fact that we were remotely attending learning. The whole cohort agree that the most valuable support is regular drop in sessions with lecturers in the lead up to assignments

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • A lot of what I am learning is not particularly relevant to my current role. I have joined the apprenticeship programme at 19 years old, I am early in my career and Im not in a management role so it's hard to use what I have learnt. We also learn a lot about large businesses which is less useful when I work in a small one

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not really. Any social events are organised outside of the organisation and management tend to not attend. We have had one whole team meeting day since my employment and a couple team meals. A part of this may be attributed to a majority of my employment being in lockdown, making social events difficult.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Minister FB to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • I actually work at MinsterFB, we are an amazon agency, my small business was not available on the drop down list. I wouldn't recommend as it has a very flat structure which makes progression in such a small business very difficult. I would value more opportunities for horizontal progression and advise others aim for roles when considering the business.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Minister FB?
  • I would say it is a very friendly workplace but to be aware that, as a small business, there are very few roles. A lot of the work is process driven which does have its advantages but can also lead to monotony and lack of creativity. Ultimately it is a good job to give experience to move into another role
