  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Ensure to take/hand over the shift correctly. Run shifts, manage/position people, ensure food safety is completed, set targets and follow up. See any potential issues or risks and action it as it is my responsibility, ensure training is kept up to date and verifications do not run out

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt information from the course, statistics and professional discussions. All of my experience is hands on and in the work environment. I throw myself into my job and do everything within my power to live the brand standards. I feel my apprenticeship could’ve been a lot more organised and on track, covid isn’t an excuse.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have been on the course 9 months and only had 3 apprenticeship appointments. I have had 3 separate coaches throughout this time which has been unsettling. My most recent coach is really good and supportive but I only have 3 months until I am supposed to qualify which is not looking likely. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] does make the sessions enjoyable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It isn’t if I’m honest. As I stated, my most recent coach, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is the most organised and on track person I have had so far. She is good but again, the sessions are always really far apart. The other coaches were not good nor supportive or organised

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from my employer, I have allocated time off the floor to do bits and bobs but I could always do with more time as I am a manager I have other responsibilities and things to look after within the work place which is also very time consuming

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As I have already stated, I have had 3 sessions in 9 months which speaks volumes. (I am supposed to have a visit every four weeks). At the start of the course they had trouble enrolling me and was confusion so my visits weepy getting delayed. The communication was poor

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • To be honest, I feel like I haven’t even started the course. I don’t feel I have made much progress at all and because everything has been all over the place from the beginning I struggle to motivate myself to want to complete the online work and I am nearing the end

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I can’t say I’m a football player to get involved with that. But I do get involved in any team building or social events we hold. I am always one that is happy to dress up for an occasion. We also have a Facebook page that I post recognition

  • 9a. Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have been offered opportunity after opportunity and I am so thankful to my employers for providing those opportunities. I have worked for the company (specifically my store)for three years in may and I started from a crew member. It’s a very fast paced environment that you get out what you put in

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
  • Throw yourself into the job, don’t let things worry you or bother you and if it does get to you then make sure you talk to somebody. Don’t moan about being on certain stations, remember the more you do it the better you become and moaning gets you nowhere
