  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working within a regional team, my role involves a variety of tasks. I help with the finance and observing the budget, as well as sales channel development to implement strategies to dealers and marketing so having communication with dealers and ensuring they are reaching their targets, as well as help plan marketing activities for the year.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have noticed that my confidence has developed further from the tasks that I complete whether that is speaking to dealers, networking with other employees, asking questions within my team, completing presentations. This has enabled me to become more confident because I am doing things that were normally outside of my comfort zone. I have learnt a lot of a new skills by being able to navigate the internal systems and Excel from attending a training course so I can learn to use the system more effectively.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the programme because everyone is so welcoming, helpful and kind as they always make time to check-in and see how you are as well as feeling comfortable to go and speak to others and that you understand the work that needs to be completed. I enjoy being able to do a variety of tasks to help the region, therefore developing my skillset further and identifying which roles I feel I am most competent in and enjoy and how much it challenges me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is organised with allocated university days, having regular meetings with my manager and other members of the team. However, I think the university could be more organised by ensuring there is clear communication between them and my employer as well as me by providing relevant information that is needed and being clearer.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel that I receive plenty of support from my manager; from both a work perspective and a studying one. My manager and I have regular meetings to check-in and see how I am doing and what tasks I am up to by providing relevant feedback, more tasks etc by always looking at ways to develop my learning to ensure I am getting the most out of the process. Also, support from all my team members as we all work as one team and help each other out, which is really nice and good for morale. Additionally, my manager is very understanding of my studying etc because we have clear communication so they are aware of what I am learning and how they can support my learning towards a specific module etc.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support I receive from the training provider can sometimes be ambiguous and holds some uncertainty, for example the word count on some of my assignments, communication about term dates etc. On the other hand, I also feel that I can chat to some of the lecturers knowing that they could help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification so far helps me perform in my role because some of the modules have allowed me to think further about reflection and also what I want to try and achieve later on in life, so by identifying this it provides further clarity on some actions I need to take. I already had some knowledge about organisations and marketing, however I am looking forward to future modules to help apply it to my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are some social activities for example if someone is leaving the department or business that you know usually something ends up taking place. Also, I have enquired about learning German and I try and make sure I reach out to other apprentices by having catch-ups and just talking about how we are finding things etc.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend working at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars because everyone who I have encountered with are friendly, helpful and kind. They are willing to advise you and support you but also feel that you always have someone to talk to. Aside from that, I feel that the work is always varied so you are always experiencing new and challenging things which helps you develop as a person and gives you the unique opportunity to learn new tasks and skills.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • My experience was different to others since it was during the pandemic, therefore I didn't attend a physical assessment day however it was still challenging because it is equally as difficult over Teams when trying to engage in conversations with other applicants. I would say just be yourself because during the interview process everyone was nice and they just want to get to know you and your abilities. Also, show some confidence in yourself and what you are talking about and why you believe the role is right for you.
