I am a technical support apprentice, and I am currently doing placements in different areas within BAE Systems. I am working on different areas of the aircraft and gaining knowledge which will help me in my career. I also complete college one day a week, where I am currently doing a HNC.
I have leant a lot of new computing skills, such as word processing and the advanced use of excel and other microsoft packages. I am now able to use Computer Aided Design software and this is a beneficial skill which can aid me in my career and may enable me to get a better job in the future.
I really enjoy the apprenticeship I am on. I have really developed as an individual and progressed my education. I have also made several friendships and working partnerships which will aid me in my career and will last a lifetime. I have matured a lot since starting and I believe this is due to the apprenticeship.
The organisation is structured exceptionally well and is a global company, meaning the opportunity to speak to those working in different areas in incredibly easy due to communication links that are in place. The company hierarchy is made clear to each employee and can be viewed on the company intranet.
I receive all of the support I need from my employer, in all aspects, such as safeguarding and with work matters.
The training provider employs tutors which often do a good job of marking work and providing improvements, however they are sometimes inconsistent with the amount of time given for assignments.
I feel as though the units we complete definitely help towards getting a better understanding of mechanical engineering as a whole.
There are not many activities such as social events or sports teams to join at work.
Yes
The company looks after all employees incredibly well, the education opportunities are good and the likelihood of having a life long career is great.
Apply yourself in the application process and always strive to complete all tasks to the best of your ability and ask lots of questions.
