Collecting and analysing water samples from the power plant as well as analysing transformer oil samples which involves handling data while booking them in. Also, I upload results online and create COSHH forms as well as send emails. I also help maintain the chemistry of the power plant.
Everyday I am learning new things which help me develop new skills such as communicating, presenting, problem solving as well as learning power plant chemistry skills which are essential in this job role.
I enjoy every day of my work which is always different and where I am always learning new things.
My program is new to my employer therefore it is not fully developed but my manager makes sure that I am consistently learning and developing into my future lab role. Everything is organised to a high level.
Whenever I don't know what I am doing or if I have any questions my work colleges and manager makes sure that they spend time with me so that I understand what I am doing and so that all of my questions are answered.
My training provider always answers my emails on the day or next day and they make sure to keep pushing me forward so that I keep progressing. They are also very well organised and always provide me with adequate information.
I think that this qualification is perfectly set up for ensuring that once my apprenticeship is over that I am ready for my full time role.
Due to Covid-19 all the extra-curricular activities have been suspended but now slowly they are starting to form again, one example is the social and recreation club which is organising it's first meet.
