As a GM, I need to oversee all the aspect of the business. Drink order, stock counts, rotas, review response, social medias, bookings, Health and Safety procedures. I do delegate to my leadership team but I always need to keep an eye as, ultimately, I am responsible for all the tasks above.
I have learned a lot through this apprenticeship, especially during the transaction time from Assistant Manager to General Manager. Couching and learning style have been a massive help, along with how to give feedback efficiently to people. Time management and how to execute an efficient plan are playing a key role in my day to day work
I really enjoyed learning new things during my apprenticeship, especially thanks to the support of my tutor who actually used to be a general manager himself with a lot of experience. Having to talk to him not just about the apprenticeship itself, but about the challenges that I was facing at work was a great relief and a pleasure.
I didn't really enjoyed the platform I was using during the programme. It was not user friendly at all, having to download the activities and then resubmit them again and again was really painful. I have been told by my tutor that I was one of the last to use this website, and since then it has been improved to give a more user friendly experience
Not much to be honest. I was paid for the workshop trainings and the face to face meeting with my tutor, but my previous General Manager never really supported me in giving me some paid time to complete exercises and activities. I ended up completing most of the "homework" during lockdown or my free time.
My first 2 trainers were not really supportive. They would take ages to reply to my emails and they were missing appointment and not really engaging me to complete the programme. My last trainer was completely different. He re ignite the passion for the programme and he kept pushing me not just to complete the programme, but to make sure I would pass with great score. I will give 10/10 only for [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], he is a star
It does cover every aspect of our daily job. From learning how to talk to people to how to manage your time in a proper way, it is always helpful. I really think every general manager in our business should complete this programme as it gives you an in depth knowledge on how to do our job properly
Not really. Things are changing in Greene King over the last year or so. More activities involving the team, incentives and a new vision are shaping Greene King into not just a workplace, but also a great company. I am sure the future of the company will better soon if we keep going in this direction.
Yes
We are changing our values, making it a great place to work in. It is down to every person involved in the business to ensure this change is happening. Pay rate are going up and additional incentives are in place for every entry level. I would recommend Greene King to every friend
Just being an hard worker is enough. Commitment and being positive are required in this line of work. Full training is provided for every entry level, from team player to General manager, this is something Greene King excel in. We also provide full paid apprenticeship if the person wants to progress.
