I work in the WCO team so my job role mainly consists of using data insights and user research to come up with test ideas, writing the briefs and presenting them to dev to be built. Once a test is implemented live I use data analytics to monitor the current performance and report back to my manager.
Since starting my apprenticeship I have learned a number of new skills, such as reading and understanding data using tools such as Data Studio and Google Analytics, as well as using other digital tools such as Maxymiser and Contentsquare. I've also developed soft skills such as communication (both written and verbal) as well as presentation skills and basic maths skills.
I am really enjoying the course so far! As someone who was never really interested in University an apprenticeship always appealed to me because it would give me the chance to earn whilst I learn. I have learned so much in the last 6 months and gained so much industry knowledge!
The course is structured and organised very well. It's broken down into 2 modules, each of which has an exam. I also have portfolio work as well as an end point assessment towards the end of the year followed by an interview. The course work is easy to balance with work because you get 20% off the job for personal study/course work.
Sage is amazing at supporting me through my apprenticeship, especially my manager. They are always willing to give me the time needed to complete my apprenticeship work and have assisted with setting up shadow sessions with other teams that will help me with my portfolio. It makes the work easier to balance.
I have regular meetings with my skills coach to go over my current progress and to make sure that I'm getting on okay. I'm able to ask any questions I need to and my skills coach is always there to support me. My portfolio is frequently checked to ensure I'm still on track.
The course is quite relevant to my job role. Whilst not everything we cover would be something that I would directly need to perform my role, it's stuff that other wider WCO teams would do, which is great because it helps me better understand their job roles and what they do. All the course content is really interesting and overall very helpful for my role.
At Sage everyone gets 5 Sage Foundation days that we can use to do charity work. As part of one of my Sage Foundation days I spent a day at Monkton Community Woodlands which involved moving wood chippings to construct paths and clearing shrubbery which was intrusive to the area.
Yes
Sage have been amazing at supporting me through my apprenticeship and treat me as they would any other employee. Sage really values their apprentices and the work to do which is really encouraging. Everyone is willing to support you and answer any questions you might have. It's a great place to work.
Just be yourself! Sage really values people for who they are so let your personality shine through, don't be afraid to express yourself! You should try and remain confident but not overly confident. Make sure to read up about the company before apply as this will reflect will in an interview. Good luck!
