  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Job role includes working in manufacturing, completing placements in various department (quality, parts quality, assembly/paintshop, analysis etc) my day to day depends on what placement I am on. It normally entails learning the core activities of a job role and what would be required to take on those responsibilities.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to assemble vehicles, I have worked on a variety of assembly stations including engine sub assembly, interior trim fitment (seats, door cards etc), door fitment, headlights and many other physical processes. i have also learnt managerial skills while covering management at Rolls-Royce and various problem solving skills and methodologies.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme I am a part of. The programme develops the apprentices well which is highly beneficial to our future and careers. Being immersed in the motor industry is very interesting and teaches the apprentice a lot about how to become an effective team member. All of the skills learnt during my apprenticeship have made the programme enjoyable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme structure is reasonably well organized. We have a basic plan of how the apprenticeship should go and what it should include, however it is important that the individual apprentice takes the time to network with various managers and structure their own placement plan according to what the individual wants to experience.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a reasonable amount of support during our apprenticeship. There is an apprentice liaison who supports us through our apprenticeship with various concerns and issues we may be having at work as well as offering us guidance with how to progress through the apprenticeship scheme, gaining as many skills as possible

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Chichester college has provided a basic framework that will meet the requirements of our apprenticeship. They have provided course material and tasks to complete that count towards our coursework. The tasks require Individual research and self learning as not all of the subjects are covered in class but some steering is offered.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Some of the aspects of our qualification can be loosely applied in the work place such as practical skills learnt in the work shops or some of the CAD skills used for engineering design can be utilised in the workplace. However some aspects of the course such as welding is a unit that is less likely to benefit your performance at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There area a variety of extra curricular activities to get involved in at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. There are social clubs available for various groups of people, sports teams for football and golf clubs. There are also activities that you can partake in with local schools or at showcase event for Rolls-Royce.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to a friend as I believe it is a good oppurtunity for anyone who is interested in mechanical engineering in the automotive industry. The skills learnt while working in the business are extremely useful and there are not many places where you will have the opportunity to learn in the


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Learn about the company objectives and ethos. Make sure you have a good idea of why you want to work in the indsutry and specifically the business. Ensure that you have an idea of why you would be a good fit for the job role and make sure you work hard and show enthusiasm
