My role at Rolls Royce Motor Cars consists of going into different placements in the Interior Trim Centre. This will cover zones like, Cutting, sewing, covering and upholstering. As I am in my third year i am able to experience zones like Bespoke and Planning. These have allowed me to take all of the knowledge I have learnt and take it into these zones.
I have definitely developed as a person during this course. My confidence and networking has grown beyond what I could have imagined myself doing. Things like doing projects has taught me to go up to people that I may not know and ask for advice and help. All projects that I have done, everyone has been so supportive with whatever i need, this has allowed my networking skills to expand greatly.
I love the people that I work with. I have developed great friendships with my fellow apprentices, who have encouraged me throughout my time at Rolls Royce. Every zone that I work in you always work as a team and never on your own. This means that there is a lot of support around you when you enter each zone.
My apprenticeship has always been organized, we have always had a chart that we are able to look at to see what zone we are going into next and how long we will be in that placement for. Rolls Royce are always mindful of your personal opinion as well, which means that if you do not enjoy an area or you have discovered a zone you would like to go in, then you are able to discuss this with your manager and they will do their best to accommodate this.
If it is ever needed we are always able to go up to our managers and book in a meeting to discuss any problems we might be having or if we are stuck on any coursework. They will find the best way to solve it. If you are not enjoying a placement they are always there for you to talk to and ask what they can do to make your time at Rolls Royce better.
During my time at Rolls Royce my training provider has always helped and answered any questions that I need answering. Especially during covid we always had teams meetings with all of the work that we were set so that we could easily understand what we needed to complete. In class everyone is comfortable enough to ask for any help that is required.
I think learning about different fabric properties has developed my knowledge greatly. when choosing a fabric for each project I do I am always thinking about the way that it will behave and how well it will look on the chair. This quality checking process has been great at my time with Rolls Royce as you always want to double check the work you are creating.
I have luckily been involved with a lot of careers fairs, where I am able to go to different schools to express my knowledge of the experience I have had whilst being an apprentice. We are also organizing an event with all of the apprentices to go to a social event, we are hoping to have a BBQ on the beach.
Yes
There are so many benefits when becoming an apprentice at Rolls-Royce, my skills and personality have developed a lot in a positive way. I have been able to push myself and see what I am capable of, as well as this i have developed lifelong friendships which I will treasurer.
Be open to different topics throughout the apprenticeship, push yourself for things that you may not think you will be able to do but with the support network around you, you will be able to achieve this easily. Whatever you put into this apprenticeship you will get out of it.
