I do three month placements, moving around the machining side of hams hall. These include the three machining lines, where I shadow maintenance technicians and assist with there jobs. Once a week I go to college for the day and work towards my foundation degree.
I have learned a lot about being in the work place and my hands on maintenance skills have greatly improved, as i have helped on many jobs.
I have greatly enjoyed working with the maintenance technicians, in general they have been very welcoming and have been really good at teaching and answering questions.
The placements all have booklets for us to fill out and track our performance, but its hard when you show up at a new placement and they don't know your coming.
My manager and placement are very supportive and easily approachable.
BMET are very supportive, if I am struggling with an assignment my teachers are very happy to help me and answer any questions. If I have a problem on a day I am not in college I can easily contact my teachers by email.
My foundation degree has programming elements to it which are helping me understand how the machines are programmed here, as i am starting to understand the coding methods.
Due to covid most activities have been proponed but there was the opportunity to go out for Christmas dinner.
Yes
