  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Assisting production planners and production specialists in every day tasks and problems such as line balancing, amending process instructions, as well as jigs and fixtures maintenance. I also am project lead in a body protection project developing and maintaining all aspects of protection throughout the production processes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Definitely, my communications skills have improved massively over my apprenticeship as well as knowledge of how to communicate to different levels of colleagues throughout the business (associate level vs managerial level). My presentation skills have also improved drastically as a result of the consistent presentations to managerial levels at various stages of projects.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much so. The opportunities available within Rolls Royce are abundant and no 2 days are the same. The university days are very informative and provide a wider knowledge to be able to bring back into the business

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Throughout the apprenticeship, placements are available across the whole business. These range from Logistics to assembly to leathershop. Currently it is the apprentices responsibility to reach out to neighbouring departments to seek for placements - this increases networking across the business as well as communication skills necessary for vital communications across the business.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • 1-2-1 meetings with lineside managers take place regularly to track progress and allow for topic escalation if required. Support is always there from colleagues if required whether in person, on an email or on a phone call.

  • The university are very good at supporting where required in lectures as well as over emails.

  • Sometimes, aspects of university are able to be implemented within daily business for example material properties and system analyses.

  • Yes, there are a few societies to join - football, golf, karting, racket sports.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Very supportive when required and many many avenues are available to climb the ladder within RRMC.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Don't worry if the application takes a long time, research the company thoroughly, Take your time with the online tests. Just do your best - that's all anyone can ask!
