Collecting samples for the labs, doing CCP checks, communicating with suppliers, assisting production with any issues they face.
Verbal communication, team work, organization. Working in the food industry is a completely new thing for me so I have learnt so much starting from scratch.
I think the programme is very informative and links back well to work life.
When at uni, the structure is great. However, the between block work is sometimes delayed and this makes it difficult to plan my time.
My work place mentor is very supportive, she gives me contact details for the best people to contact when I am struggling on a certain module. We have regular reviews after uni blocks, to keep in touch about how I am getting on.
Most of the module leaders get back to you within a few days and with enough information. However sometimes the communication is poor and I have had to email up to 4 times to get a reply.
It gives me a new outlook in the workplace, spotting different risks and having more knowledge about why some of the procedures are in place and the steps that need to be taken.

The apprentices get a lot of support.
Research the business ahead of joining, see what areas of the business excite you the most and run with that in your interview.
