My role as an ARM falls into the banking sector of commercial banking as it provides a range of banking products and financial services for small to medium size businesses. I look after small to medium sized enterprises which have less than 250 employees and up to a £50,000,000 turnover. My role involves working with clients to help them make the right decisions with their accounts and explain the financial services that are on offer to them. The role is based around my customers and their needs. I carry out their financial health checks to help them uncover key areas of focus in their business and personal finances now and in the future and see what products and services they need and what will benefit and help them to take their business forward.
Yes I have developed and learned lots of new skills as I am new to banking.
I love my new role as an ARM, however the apprenticeship programme is up and down. It seems to be lacking in consistency, communication and it is extremely repetitive.
Due to Covid I mostly done my programme remotely. I have to give a credit to the team as they have adapted extremely quickly to the new ways of working. However, there seems to be lack of consistency. Some apprentices were receiving information in advance and some were not having any information given.
I have been extremely lucky with my team as I receive a lot of support.
My coach is extremely supportive and attentive. She always provides detailed feedback on my work which helps me improve and grow.
I feel that the Professional Bankers Qualification helped me greatly to gain a knowledge and understanding, however I found the programme it self have little relevance to what I am doing. It is extremely repetitive.
There are lots of opportunities to get involved.
