Taking readings from around plant and ensuring there are no abnormalities. isolating and de-isolating plant for maintenance and inspections. opening and closing valves in sequence when the PowerStation is starting up and when shutting down.
Learned alot about the behaviour of water and steam and how it acts under pressure.
the inhouse training is good. the college course we have been put on though, does not suit the role.
well structured training programme to allow apprentices to learn about the plant.
managers and other fully qualified operators always happy to help and answer questions.
help is always at hand when needed.
i do not believe the SVQ we are doing helps us become better operators.
