I am a tax adviser including preparation of tax reports advising clients on the tax implications of a transaction and running compliance projects.
I am learned communication skills as well as technical competencies and confidence in speaking to people / pubic speaking.
I enjoyed my programme considerably, felt supported throughout on the way to a prestigious qualification. I find my work interesting and challenging alongside this
The professional qualification team can be a little hit or miss with how they help you but there is a clear pathway detailed and a support system throughout for any queries or issues.
We receive a large amount of college days / study leave, study materials and a network of people going through the same exams / assessments as a support network which are all beneficial and provide support.
The training provider includes teachers who answer ad hoc queries and one on one coaching if requested, clear study materials and access to recorded lessons.
There are elements that are vital to my role and allow my a wider understanding of the industry we work in and the language of financial reporting. There are elements which are not relevant however and are seen as a check box exercise professionally.
I am an active member of the social committee and the religious committee which provide a social element to my work as well as an active support network within my peer group. I attend network events and client / internal events.
Yes
It is an enjoyable place to work with a supportive environment and challenging but really interesting work.
Be yourself - this is much more important than being a drone who's learned the history of a company. Be enthusiastic - you may not know all the technical but enthusiasm to learn is so much more important.
