Leading a team in delivering front of house service by liasing with all team members and back of house/kitchen to deliver guest experience according to our brand standards. Shift management, taking a supporting role in management team by focusing on site sales and managing our play area and team.
I have found the programme extremely useful so far in developing my leadership skills, especially in tailoring my approach to individual needs within the team and implementing strategies for improving team dynamics and morale. Off the job training has given me great insight and helped to develop my technical knowledge of our company and business needs, making me more effective as a meme we of our team on site.
I really enjoy the topical learning and have found that this approach is fairly manageable within a busy job and home life. My trainers has been really understanding of those commitments and made the programme really accessible to me in a way that is helping me hugely in achieving my goals.
I’m finding the programme great in that I can access each topic for learning through a specific link and then read around the subject to prepare for regular scheduled catch ups with my trainer over teams. I’m finding this works really well for me to manage the workload and keep me on track.
My employer has been really understanding and she checks in often on how I’m doing. I’ve found a lot of support from my manager in developing some of my own ideas into projects I hope will benefit our site and help me to develop as a manager. It’s been brilliant to have some designated time within my shifts each week to complete my off the job training as well.
My training provider gives a huge amount of support. I know I can chat over email, and text if I have questions about my learning in between meetings, and this has been really helpful. The course material is really well structured and engaging, with really useful relevant tasks that help me in my day to day work.
I definitely feel that working towards this qualification has helped me to improve in my day to day work. I think as I learn and apply new skills I am better able to gauge the needs of the team and adjust my approach and style when I need to-it has given me the knowledge I need to ask those questions of myself, making me better at delivering on the tasks I’m set.
There are extra curricular activities to get involved in at work. It’s quite a social team with lots of people who get on really well, and they have nights out, staff parties and team building evenings, and career days where you can go and meet with team members from other sites and discuss progression within the company.

I have found whitbread a great company to work for-I came to my current role in quite tough personal circumstances and really felt that I was given the opportunity to work and succeed without judgement, which was a godsend. I work with a great team of people, many of whom have been with the company for many years and embody the ethos that I have really come to admire.
Whitbread seem to be a company that wants to develop its employees to be the best they can be-work hard and set goals, and take the opportunities that your hard work will get you, because I think you can progress within the company and achieve great personal success while working as part of a great team of people.
