Administrative work for the HR team, planning engagement activities, assisting with the wellbeing team
I came into the apprenticeship with no HR background or experience. I have since learnt many new skills and also developed previous skills that i had such as Microsoft Office. I have also been able to complete external qualifications such as my MHFA course.
I really enjoy my current role and i am looking forward to progressing in my HR career. The team are lovely and all helpful - nothing is too much trouble.
Matalan have been really helpful in allowing me time to complete my apprenticeship tasks and allow time for studying and off the job hours. My manager is extremely supportive and we have weekly check in's to monitor my progress in both the role and the apprenticeship.
As stated above, everyone in the team is supportive and allow me to gain experience for my apprenticeship by attending meetings and relevant events.
My apprenticeship tutor is helpful on my calls and will give guidance where require. Sometimes they take a while to respond to messages.
Some modules are relevant, but others are quite broad and i am yet to use the knowledge i have gained.
I have attended some social events such as the awards ceremony that took place. I helped set this up and provided assistance throughout the event. I have made friends within the HR department and we have planned to meet up outside of work.
