  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within the Operational Excellence team, delivering and facilitating business improvement activities across our operational processes. Work is predominantly project based, working with a variety of project teams across the business to reduce waste and encourage continuous improvement mentality.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have completed a Level 3 qualification in Business Improvement through my apprenticeship provider and am currently working on completing my Level 4 qualification by September this year. I have completed both an internal and external training course to become Lean Six Sigma Yellow & Green Belt certified.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my time so far, I have a great team around me and a fantastic line manager, who have all been an important part of my journey as an apprentice. Company culture is on the whole very good.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Currently, my programme is very well organised with good support training throughout. However, having completed my first qualification (Level 3) through the middle of the pandemic, it could be said that the transition through this period in how the course was ran was confusing and not clearly communicated.

  • Very well supported in my role in the business and my responsibilities as an apprentice.

  • 8/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The content of the course has greatly improved my knowledge, and has been crucial in how I've been able to progress so far. I'm constantly applying what I'm learning in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I've been assisting in the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion group at our office in Nottingham since I joined in 2019. For the last year I've been sharing the management of this group with one other person. I regularly help our early careers team with recruitment events/webinars.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Siemens is such a large and diverse company that is constantly innovating. There are so many opportunities to progress with Siemens, both within your role and overall in your professional career. Their approach to early careers is impressive and one that more companies should learn to adopt.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • Keep an open mind, there are so many opportunities within Siemens to progress and move into different areas. Be open to change and new things.
