  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a daily basis I work with audit teams to review significant accounts as part of their audit (e.g. Payroll) using data analytics. I work directly with audit teams and the clients to audit the accounts and investigate any unusual activity. You are directly responsible for all bookings you are on and must see them to completion

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My skills in excel have greatly improved and the use of VLOOKUPS and pivot tables have made my job much easier. As part of the job involves studding with BPP my academic skills have also improved such as research and report writing. Also as my role includes talking and communicating with various teams my skills and behavior's in this area has vastly improved

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work itself can be somewhat repetitive and it very much depends on who is part of your team as this changes depending on the projects. The company can sometimes demand too much during busier times of the year and certain expectations and assumptions were not met and the work can be too difficult with mediocre support

    4/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program structure is improving over time but it is somewhat unstructured and a bit up in the air at times and training and lectures are often confirmed last minute. However as we have transitioned into using BPP this has gotten much better and there is lots of support offered by them with skills coaches and well delivered lectures

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a decent level of support from EY as there are regular catch ups between team members to talk if support is needed or if you have any issues. Whilst working on jobs support can be somewhat limited as the available resources are not the best and team members are often unavailable

    6/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From EY there is little to no support for the assignments and exams apart from the study leave they are required to give us. We can reach out for research and help but it tends to only be other apprentices that help each other rather than higher level team members

    3/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far there has been little relevance to the studies and my role and it rarely helps me in my day to day role . Theories we have been able to study do not get put into practice as they are not relevant and not related to my industry as of yet

    2/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in such as socials and networking events, sporting days e.g. football. There are also CSR days where we can take part in charity events and fundraisers where we get two days of our choosing a year to do these and help our community

    8/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • There is still a lot to be improved upon for the apprenticeship and the attitude for the company as the support for the studies is not great and the work can be very demanding and difficult with little support or intervention from managers and above to help out when it is needed

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Doing plenty of research into the role you are applying for the confirm it is a good fit for you and will match all your expectations. Some degree of understanding about finance and technology will help as well and make sure you can hit the ground runinng and stay on top of all work
