The 360 apprentice programme day to day offers a chance to work in financial services. The job involves going to various businesses and working to assess risks, audit statements and advise on the company in question. There is opportunity to work in different areas around kpmg and in different geographical locations
Yes in this programme college work has been a vital component. I have improved my exam skills as I need to pass various exams to become part and full qualified, which is a big incentive not doing the uni route after school. I have learnt lots of new skills via college especially
I enjoy the programme - it is valuable gaining such a detailed insight on the business at kpmg and also at various companies, and at such an early age. I was fearful and worried at first if I would settle in, but there is opportunity to learn and grow as a person!
The programme is clearly structured. there are days set in client work and otgher long stretches of college tuotion that leads up to exams. these are intense and the structure means I can focus on the exam and pass, and not worry about other kpmg commitments which is important to me
The employer gives a lot of support and this is great, from the word go and throughout the programme. There is an important focus on learning and trying hard in everything you do - from the college work to when out doing audit and other client facing work but there is always help available
I receive some support from the training provider I am less certain on this question as I have not really sought too much assistance, but college life is long and intense, but the teachers are great and I really enjoy the opportunity to learn with excellent teachers giving insight to me
The qualification certainly helps as the exams are linked to the work i do day to day, and this is important applying method and theory to work. this is common across audit and tax especially where the principles are applied in the day to day work, and passing the exams is vital
There are extra curricular stuff going on at kpmg - I have taken part in clubs especially with sport where there are lots of opportunities to get involved and being in london office there are lots of colleagues telling you what is going on, and always new things to become involved in
Yes
I would recommend kpmg for the opportunity to succeed in business and learn, which is such an advantage when bypassing the traditional uni route. you do need to be certain as the application process i recall was very thorough and you are grilled on why you want to work at kpmg!
Tips: research the programe, the role and the firm as you are asked these questions and actually they are vital to ease your way into the business and develop. the work itself is quite complicated so do not worry if you cannot grasp the principles just from online research at first!
