writing reports, doing calculations, submitting work to be checked. I spoke often to people at work to do the tests needed. the work requires accuracy and that people trust the numbers seen when a business does their reports. the work i did linked in to this and is important for all connected to the company.
this was a big learning curve. i came into the work not knowing much about the firm or the job. but over the starting weeks I was told what to do and how to do it. so my skills working with numbers improved. I used excel daily and this improved alot
i enjoyed the programme it was quite hard at first adjusting to being in a big world of work, and with no friends who i knew coming in. but i quickly met lots of nice people and it was great meeting new friends who i am now really close to
it was good on this too. every week i was busy and had lots to do. some weeks i would go to a different place of work. other times i would be in the kpmg office and doing office work checking and preparing for going out to a new project.
the employer kpmg was good and supportive. before i started they sent me lots of information and the process in interviewing helped me understand as i could ask questions and find out more. the welcome event at the start was great as it put me at ease and i felt ready to work from that
good support. i went to college to do my training and the learnings there were varied and important. the classes were well set up and i had all textbooks and information given to me. this helped me learn and prepare for exams with mock assessments too leading up to formal exam sessions.
yes. the exams and qualifications were important. everyone needs to do them wherever you start at kmpg. the exams go in to your daily work and you understand more for example about the financial statements and how calculations are made. the tuition was interesting and new to me - but really good.
yes i think so,. i have not yet looked into this much. i think this is because i have been so busy with college work and also at work doing my regular day job. i think there are network groups and these are often around religion and gender I think, and other employee groups.
Yes
yes. kpmg is a big firm and there is always lots going on. although there are thousands of people you meet groups of teams and they are always really friendly. the clients can be a mixed bag of good and tricky, with different hours. but generally i have worked on some interesting projects.
apply, try your best. kpmg is big and i do not think you ever really understand how much goes on. there are lots of service lines and dozens of divisions beneath these, so look at what you are interested in. then apply to what you want to do and try your best in the applications.
