I am currently in the fourth year of the apprenticeship where I am on my final placement and you would think that they would have a plan set out for us, however we have been in our final placement for around a year now and there is no organization, we should be shadowing maintenance however that doesn't seem to be happening and we are working on the line
Again due to the lack of organization provided by the company within the last year of the apprenticeship it has been hard to learn new skills or develop any of my existing ones. I went into this year looking forward to being able to shadow the maintenance and get involved in job but now we are on the line working with production I feel as though I am not learning
When going into the fourth year I thought that it was going to be the best year of the apprenticeship due to having freedom and being able to fully integrate in the team, however halfway through the warning with minimal notice we all got moved shift which disrupted everyone's progression. On top of this the manager didn't listen to reason and initially refused meetings meaning that the union eventually needed to get involved
The organization as said previously is not organized in one bit. Initially starting the fourth year i did think that there was a plan set out for us to follow and I was happy but as we progressed the manager started changing things and making the job role more difficult than it needed to be by swapping shifts with little notice. When asked for reason we were ignored and I feel like that takes a massive toll on mental health
I don't receive any support from my employer in any situation. Even if we ty to contact a manager regarding any issues we have we are either ignored which has already happened, or we are dismissed and nothing is done to help us. the mental health of their employees I believe is completely disregarded as if we are to have any issues with their plans then we are made to feel like problem employees and outcasts due to managers then spreading's rumor's of slander. I feel as though my voice shouldn't be heard
I am currently participating in my second year of the level 4 HNC however the course over the two years has been a complete shambles. we have had 2 teachers leave and the only one to stay has been working between over all four years so he is being worn thin and probably on the verge of leaving. we have tried complaining to the training provider and they said they were looking into it but nothing changed making me feel as though they have ignored us and just didn't care. The only good thing from the training provider is that the guy assisting us with the EPA is extremely helpful and on the ball meaning I was able to get this done easily.
The EPA side of the qualification is useful to me as I can refresh my knowledge of what I have done and while doing it I can ensure that I have understood what was going on during the job. the HNC side of the qualifications however I am currently unable to see how it is beneficial to me and this is mainly because we have been switching between teachers so much that I feel as though I haven't doing anything truly productive or learnt that much
There has been no extra curricular activities offered. when entering the fourth year it feels as though we have been completely ignored by all managers as I haven't seen anything that relates to extra curricular in any way. In fact within the previous year there wasn't much offered to us either and I don't know for sure if this is because they had nothing going on or the fact that management was not good in any way and didn't offer it to us
Yes
The only reason I would recommend this job role to a friend is because the pay that we receive is quite a lot and we are able to get a decent amount of qualifications. Once I have built up enough money and earned my qualifications I would then recommend moving to a different company that cares more for their employees mental health and treats them like human beings
I would recommend that you don't go into this apprenticeship thinking/expecting too much as normally if you have an issue it isn't resolved. The employer is rarely helpful and doesn't resolve any issues and the training provider is exactly the same. I am in the fourth year and I'm upset that its taken me this long to learn not to expect anything but disappointment from the company. there is a good chance that mental health may deteriorate due to not being treated like a human being
