  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my experience as an apprentice within the trading department. The team and all my managers have been very supportive of the scheme with helping me to complete tasks, complete observations and making sure I set aside learning time. I feel like a valued member of the team with great opportunities to develop and get involved in the daily job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There isn't guided learning time such as lessons. It will be a lot of independent study and up to you to find resources to aid your learning and being able to complete written tasks and essays. Coaches do their best to meet regularly with you and will try to provide the support needed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Tui itself is a huge advocate for apprenticeships. This is shown throughout the business through recognition, the wide spread of apprentices seen in different departments and reward schemes such as recently there was an apprenticeship awards show to recognise achievements by apprentices. Set time is put aside for learning time and to ensure you have all the time you need to complete the work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have more internal help with our apprenticeship coach and using Smart Assessor, often resources are uploaded on the system for our use. City and Guilds have not provided any resources to use but whatever they have, they are shared with us with this platform to be used at any given point.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The apprenticeship has widen my business knowledge. I had no previous experience in any business qualification so the apprenticeship gave me strong foundations to understand what a business looks like and also what aspects are needed. I have also put myself forward for skill broadening opportunities such as presentations which also tie into my observations needed for the apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Tui is a very social business! Especially within commercial, there is a dedicated team called commercial smiles. They organise events within the office such as Fizzy Thursdays, easter egg raffles and external events such as London Socials and Ascot. Within my own team we hold monthly team events or afternoons out to socialise and bond within the team. Recently we had a painting competition in St Albans Park

  • 9a. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • TUI as a business has development and personal growth at its centre. I thoroughly enjoy working with my team and have made some really strong friendships. I feel supportive, valued and listened to which I think is so important especially when it was my first office job since leaving sixth form. I love the personal aspect of the job and company. The perks are great too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • Research the business and its values. By understanding the company values, you can gauge what kind of company you will be working for and be able to sell yourself to meet the business needs. There are so many different roles within TUI so apply for anything and everything! There are so many different opportunities internally and you will gain so much exposure to the business from jobs which you didn't even know was there.
