It has been challenging but very rewarding. I have met new like minded people and also engaged with others that I wouldn’t normally get exposure too both more senior and more junior people and improved my communication skills. I have enjoyed the course and get a real sense of achievement
The programme is structured very well over the 4 years. There were times where differing modules overlapped that could have been structured better and continuing through the summer months could have smoothed the efforts whilst improving the continuity of learning throughout the 4 years. Overall though I’d say the structure is very good
My employer is very good. Support includes payment of essential expenses, time off to help complete the qualification, attendance and coaching, reviewing materials as needed. We have a dedicated apprenticeship team we can go to for extra support. The encouragement and motivation from this is very good and the sponsorship is excellent
Skills coach reviews, lectures, workshops, reviews, support is various including the assignment brief, interpretation of the brief, provision of slides, use of moodle, the milestones for longer term assignments so you know you are on track. Being available on teams for drop in sessions. Allocating supervisors to support the synoptic project as well as the coach and lecturers
The level 6 degree apprenticeship provides additional learning that supplements my role and also learning that is aligned directly to my role. It’s improved my confidence in performing the role and this has had a direct benefit in terms of the quality of my work. I use the reflective techniques to identify room for future improvement and put these into action
Yes lots. I’m a running enthusiast and have a network or people with similar interests. We have had many competitions and team challenges such as Great Wall Of China which we run, walked, rowed, cycled and even swam in distance terms. I received fitness guru of the year 2020 within the lab
Yes
It is a fantastic place to work, will fit the needs of a diverse range of people with lots of different roles at all levels. The training and development is first class. It is a major player in helping Britain Recover after the pandemic and has a strategy to make britain prosper. But it’s the people that make the real difference … they are awesome.
Be prepared but also relaxed. Try not to overthink. Be honest but also ambitious. Be prepared to be stretched and be prepared to go outside your comfort zone. Do your research. There is a lot of history to brush up on and a lot of this is already in the public domain. Be positive. You can do it.
