The Apprenticeship has given me the theory-based knowledge that I require to be successful in this role, alongside the practical on the job learning. To gain more experience and knowledge of HR. On completion I will have the fundamentals, knowledge and requirements needed to be successful in any HR remit.
I am applying the theoretical knowledge that I am learning into practice. For example, reading an understanding policies and procedures ahead of a grievance or redundancy consultation. I have noticed that my knowledge is getting broader, and I am a lot more confidence when having these conversations with any stakeholders.
The programme is very structured and I get support from the team when I need it. I have reviews with the team to discuss what I am doing and how I am doing, this encourages me. I also know that if I fee overwhelmed I can request for a break.
My employer supports me. I get 20% off a week to use as my study day. I use this day to research and complete my assignments. My employee helps with with finding stakeholders in the business who can help me with some assignments and projects which I find very helpful.
My tutor supports me a lot and I can reach out to them at any time. We have reviews to review my progress and where I might need assistance. I get constructive feedback for my assignments. This has helped me gained more knowledge, experience and understanding on what CIPD requires.
I am learning what my strengths and weaknesses are and working on improving my areas of weakness such as data analysis and maintaining my areas of strength such as interpersonal skills and relationship building. The learning has reinforced my desire toward my career goal which is to be a HRBP.
I co-founded the ERG/Network P.R.I.M.E. Under my leadership, P.R.I.M.E. was nominated in the 2020 Ethnicity Awards in the category of top 10 ERGs/Networks. I am passionate about DEI and I was a founding member of Pearson's Global DEI Taskforce.

Pearson is progressively improving and becoming a more inclusive workplace. Pearson is invested in learning and provide opportunities for employees to gain training degrees and opportunities to continue learning. There are opportunities to get involved in projects and initiatives via the wave programme which gave me the platform to HR.
Be confident, if you want to work for an employer that priorities learning and development and values DEI then Pearson is the right place for you. I would advice others to just apply and be themselves as Pearson values the difference in every employee. Pearson is defined by their values.
