I identify new business opportunities to generate revenue to help the business to grow. I do this by researching and identifying new opportunities within new and existing client base generating a pipeline of leads. I meet with clients both in person and virtually to develop relationships, understanding the clients needs and to provide solutions to meet these. This may be through a formal tender process or contracting direct with the client. I also account manage a caseload of existing clients to retain and grow the business.
I have developed new knowledge, skills and behaviours including the bid and proposal end to end process, from identifying opportunities, planning and competitive tendering through to presentations, negotiating and delivery and implementation. I have developed many of my existing skills including organisation and planning, writing skills, communication, team working and relationship building. I have been able to fine tune many behaviours for example my interpersonal awareness and acting professionally and ethically.
As a more mature apprentice, including retaking maths and English qualifications, the apprenticeship programme has given me a new passion for learning. I have particularly enjoyed carrying our research and completing assignments, developing my knowledge, skills and behaviours away from the day job and them being able to apply these and make positive changes to my own working practices and influencing change in the wider organisation.
The training provider has provided a structured programme with masterclasses and assignments, easily managed through an eportfolio system. I have a supportive line manager and an allocated mentor who has been supporting me through the whole programme with regular meetings. I pre plan all of my off the job training and my employer is very supportive of this.
A lot, not only do I have a supportive employer and mentor, the wider Pearson apprenticeship team provide regular keeping in touch meetings and I am a Pearson Apprentice Ambassador. My employer is really open to me putting into practice new processes and solutions which are having a real benefit to the business.
I have an allocated skills coach and a learning progress provider with monthly meetings, some including my line manager and mentor. Through the first 10 months of the programme I have attended monthly full day masterclasses which are followed up by assignments to ensure the programme follows a structure to meet the requirements of the assessment plan.
The knowledge, skills and behaviours I have developed during my on-programme have had a positive impact on my role and the wider business. I have been able to put into practice in my day job what I have learnt plus I have had the opportunity to be part of various workstreams where I have been able to make a positive contribution to wider business decisions.
I am a Pearson Apprentice Ambassador. This is a great opportunity for me to have a learner voice to be able to share my experiences and for others to learn from them, not just other apprentices within the business but also external stakeholders to drive improvement and to raise awareness to increase the uptake of apprenticeships and the benefits an apprentice can bring to employers.
