  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Engineering new software for the programme I work on and testing this. Liaising with other departments and stakeholders to showcase this software producing documentation for this.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt core programming skills in Python, YAML, JSON and Ruby. I have improved my formal writing and architecture design skills. I have gained two levels of AWS certification and working towards a third with regular training towards more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is a good programme where I am exposed to new areas of the business why developing skills to help me in my role and getting certified for these skills. I work with other apprentices towards apprentice objectives learning about the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well organised with regular apprentice objectives which teach about organisation culture and allow you to meet key stakeholders throughout all business levels.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive excellent help from my employer if I am having and issues such as not understanding work either at university or at work they will assign someone to help me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The university have provided great support with regular support sessions towards assignments. outside of assignments there is regular networking events and skill development sessions in skills such as critical thinking amongst others.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps me gather knowledge in the general area of computer science and the digital environment something which was minimal before starting this course in subjects such as technology management or introduction to computing which has advanced my skills in areas such as network security.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Even though I do not participate in any of these as I have personal activities I participate there is numerous clubs such as beekeeping or football you can participate in.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Barclays is an inclusive employer that has allowed me to gain certifications and improve soft skills and exposure to high levels of the business. I have also been able to take control of key integrations of a project which is vital to bank strategy.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • Dont be afraid if you lack the skills just make sure you match barclays values as this is key to the organisation you you as an applicant.
