My role involves dealing with many aspects of licensed property where my involvement ranges from individual and portfolio valuations and property consultancy, development review of estates and portfolios, also working on a number of agency instructions within the sector. My role has also allowed me to develop various data skills and systems
I have been able to develop a wide array of skills, particularly those that are required to go to complete my end point assessment - the assessment of professional competency (APC) with the RICS. Of particular note are skills the more 'soft' skills that are developed upon whilst working in a professional workplace and dealing with people.
I continue to enjoy my apprenticeship program particularly the day to day role that I undertake and this provides me a great deal of satisfaction when working. The university provides valuable experiences to reinforce knowledge gained in the workplace. no two days in the office are the same. Additionally, I am able to get out of the office and travel around the UK for various tasks that need undertaking.
The program follows a strict structure throughout the entire apprenticeship program which follows a logical process. As per the apprenticeship standards there is a significant amount of structured training which feeds into the knowledge required to undertake your day to day role as well as assisting in the preparation for the APC.
The support the Savills provide is excellent and aligns well to that of their graduate program which is arguably best in class. Savills has continued to expand their apprenticeship program and the associated support for this as well as making the integration to the wider business and graduate program more seamless.
The university have a wide array of resources that are available. As you progress through the course the staff become more accessible and the courses become more tailored to your specific pathway which enables you to make the best use of those resources that are there. The university regularly catch up with you and your line manager every 10 weeks.
As time progresses throughout the degree process, the modules and assignments and resources align more and more closely to the the day to day role in which I work. In addition to this the university run professional practice workshops which aim to provide additional information and training towards the RICS APC.
There are a wide array of extra curricular activities to get involved in at Savills, catering for all levels of experience and interests. They are well organised and well run. If there is not something that is not set up there are no limits on being entrepreneurial and starting something yourself.
